Greenore 8 Year Old - 40%
Greenore is produced from maize (also known as corn) and is made in a single distillery. This is what makes it a single grain whisky. Greenore is aged for a minimum of 8 years in bourbon casks. This gives a sweet and oaky flavour for the whisky. This whisky is distilled twice, unlike other Irish whiskies which are distilled three times, to keep the flavour safe from being lost. The finished whisky has lovely honey and toffee notes.
Grain used in making this whisky was shipped in Greenore Port, which is where the name derives from. The distillery is called Cooley Distillery which is located in County Louth. Cooley has won over 300 medals for their whiskies and Greenore won best in class for three years running (2008-2010) at the International Wine and Spirits Competition.
