Kilbeggan - 40%
Matthias Manus founded the Kilbeggan Distillery in 1757 on the banks on the River Brosna situated in Moycashel, County Westmeath, Ireland. Kilbeggan derives from the Gaelic for 'church of Becan'.
Remarkably, only four families have had control of the Kilbeggan Distillery, the Mcmanus family, the Codd family, the Locke family and the Teeling family. It was the Codd family who was responsibly for expanding the original distillery and increasing its capacity after utilising the Grand Canal to transport more efficiently.
