50ml Woodford Reserve Bourbon
25ml Fresh lemon juice
15ml Egg White
10ml Sugar syrup
Layer of red wine
2 Dashes angostura Bitters
Dry shake all ingredients apart from red wine in a cocktail shaker. This will help create a frothy heavier mouth feel. Then add good quality cubed ice and shake again. Strain into a wine glass then slowly layer the red wine over the drink using the back of a spoon.
Legend has it that this cocktail was first made in the 1880s and was originally known as Continental Sour. This cocktail has been known by many names in the past; Southern Whisky Sour, Brunswick Sour and Claret Snap.
This cocktail is a great after dinner drink enjoyed as a digestif. A lip-smacker when enjoyed with a Fonseca Cocacos cigar!
